Work –15
There was so much to share while in progress, but most of it is gone.
Here are some images of a smaller work, not yet titled :

I am for sale.
The most difficult part of promotion is self-promotion. As a natural introvert that suffers the mental anguish from networking events, I avoid them at all cost. In an attempt to repair the damages of not shouting the glory of my work face-to-face, I will whisper it here…

Working from memories –15
The image above, still yet to be titled, was completed earlier in the year. I don’t have much of a story to tell about any of the work that I’ve done. I can say that it has all come to be as part of a much bigger story of travel and exploration and failed attempts at life and love.

A New Year
Something about the summer moves me. The winter sends me down and in, but the summer pushes me up and out.
There is new work.
I’ve started cleaning out my studio space and new ideas have been swirling around.
What I am Reading: The Bell Jar
What I am Listening to: Hozier, the sounds of breath, falling water.
What I am Watching: Nothing note worthy.

Together_Apart
The work that I had completed in March felt really full, as did my life. I noted that my work today is a bit more minimal, as is my life.
It was quiet today and all the things I’ve had swirling around came swirling out onto the canvas.
The title(s) Together_Apart, has several meanings, all relevant to this time and space.
This is an image of the two competed pieces side by side. They are eerily similar, yet were made with clear differences.
I worked outside today, which was a huge change. I felt that the noises of nature might have moved these pieces in a different direction than if I had worked in my regular space.
The layers of these paintings consisted of paste, medium, paint, and charcoal.
I was filthy by the end of this process, which brought a real satisfaction.
The charcoal did some strange and surprising things when interacting with the paint.
I felt that movement and texture took my work in a new direction today.
I’ve been playing with texture during the last few months, but there was something subtle and nuanced here that I hadn’t been able to create before.
It is still an amazement to see my mood form on the canvas as the work progresses.
Let me know in Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, or here which one you think is #Together and which one is #Apart. I’m dying to know.

Information Hurricane
I’ve been away for a bit. I spent weeks creating and then putting myself out into space. I had a nice time at the Greenpoint Gallery for their Salon show. The other shows have been rejections, but 25% is never bad.
During my time away from the internet, I’ve been ill, finished my M.S., graduated, celebrated the birth of my daughter, got some much needed rest, and began employment for financial sustainability. Additionally, I’ve been consuming mass amounts of information. I can feel it now all swirling around with no place to go. Something must come out of all of it. That is the hope, at least, of trying to jam it all in there.
What I am Reading: The Atlantic, BBC News, The Almost Moon, Dear Sugar, Brainpickings
What I am Listening to: Tom Petty, Drum n Bass, Morrissey, too much Amy Winehouse, the washing machine, a lawn mower, and birds
What I am Watching: The Monuments Men, Mad Men (season 7), Sherlock (season 3, again), Anthony Bourdain – Parts Unknown, Derek (season 1 & 2), Archer, Inside Llewyn Davis, Reservoir Dogs

4 Shows
I just entered work into 4 shows and sold a painting this week. I am just breaking the surface of something that has momentum which I cannot slow.
Going forward feels incredible.
^^ This is one of three mini pieces I’ve completed. This reminds me of Monet. Its titled Landscapes of the Mind and is 14″x11″x1″, acrylic on canvas. And, if I am fortunate, will be shown @greenpointgallery in Brooklyn this weekend.
This is an 11”x14”x1”, acrylic on canvas. Its titled Landscapes of the Mind 2 and I don’t know what it reminds me of. Its so red and I don’t know where all this red is coming from. Generally, I am drawn to blues and greens…. Nonetheless, hope this one gets shown too!
Did I call this a ‘Study in Pink?” Maybe I will just for the irony. Anyway, I hope to submit this to the @fjordgallery for a show titled #laboroflove… which all my work is, but when there are alabaster chips included there is really an emphasis on LABOR.
The Study in Pink, mixed media acrylic and alabaster on canvas 20″x20″x2″.
What I am listening to: Al Green, Amy Winehouse
What I am reading: medical documents, parking tickets, graduation requirements, phd applications

Incomplete
I got a little bit of time in the studio this week. I am trying to finish up some things. I feel like so many pieces are really close to being done.
Here is some progress…

Newness
I’m stuck in flux between momentum and fatigue. I can clearly see progress. I can feel a sense of new all around. I can tell that things that are beyond me are happening.
I am now working on four pieces at once, or two pieces. They might be part of each other, or rather, two pair. And now piece number five emerges…
Starting and leaving things unfinished creates a certain anxiety for me, that I hope I can allow to pass with time and the bringing to fruition these incomplete images.
This week has brought an abundance of challenges and surprises. Here is what I am working on:
What I am listening to: Frank Ocean, BBS Exercise 01
What I am reading: Nineteen Eighty Four
What I am looking at: fashion, men’s shoes, cheekbones, necklines
